I get the point about who would we send the other way in a potential Tkatchuk deal, but we also have to consider the return for someone like Panarin would bring and factor that in. We don’t get Tkatchuk without moving Panarin, and that’s not happening so it’s a pretty dead issue IMO. Fun to think about but not reality.

I’d love Cuylle in the top 9, maybe on a line with Panarin to get into the dirty areas in a Hunt type role but with hopefully more skill. I’d also love to see the kid line start together and see what they do. I’m not worried if they get 1-2 min less than the “top 2” lines and play it more by which line is playing well that particular game. As long as they’re getting PP time I could care less which line they’re on.

Photo of Miller playing in a summer league wearing a sponsor's jersey. The team is sponsored by BiC. Love the comment: "Why Key a pencil?"

I am not a big fan of considering blowing up the team. I am not sure I understand all the talk of it either. The Rangers just made the ECF. Are one of the youngest teams in the NHL and have one of the best young talent pools. SO...Why?

Regardless of realistic possibilities of moving Trouba or Panarin, I think attempting to trade our key players and replacing them with other key players only sets back all that was built.

But the nihilist in me say we will crash and burn this year. So (frank) it. Booom.

I think it’s an addiction that any time a big name is out there we wanna be in on it

Agree it won’t happen, but if by some crazy chance it did, and Anaheim really did want Panarin then maybe a 3 team deal works. Panarin to the Ducks, Rangers gets Tkachuk, Flames get whatever riches the Ducks are offering up. Rangers don’t break everything down and add the type of player they’ve needed for awhile. Does this make us better? Idk.

I'm honestly shocked filthy Phil still isn't signed. If he does go unsigned I'd say rangers offer him a PTO to light a fire under Kravs

I agree. Having a bonus player like Kessel around can't hurt.

If Zibanejad drives the play of the first line, and Panarin drives the play of the second line, what happens to a big part of the offense without him? Trocheck wasn't signed to do what Panarin does on that line, and that's not Tkachuk's game, either. His game is closer to Kreider's, only Tkachuk plays it better.

You basicly would be replacing a 100 point player with a younger 100 point player. Panarin cant be move so its a moot point.

In this comparison that has about a 1% chance of happening, Tkachuk changes the complete make up of the top 6. The automatically become much harder to play against because Tkachuk is much harder to play against than bread. The only similarity is that they are both 100 players. If they told Tro e was going to play with Tkachuk instead of bread, I doubt he loses any sleep. Moving on.

I realize Bread didnt have the greatest playoffs performance, but I am going to take a chance here and say NHL players all think he is really hard to play against since he has been mostly lighting them up over his career. He is not physically big and older than Tkachuck but I disagree that he is easier to play against. Different but not easier.

Fair. I guess I meant there’s a huge difference in the physicality between the two players.

There is no reason why the Rangers, with the very unpredictable depth at RW, shouldnt give him a PTO. I could totally see him being the shooter from the right side on the PP. Hes probably a 3rd liner at best at this point, but Im sure he can still shoot.

I think it's a fair point to bring up too. He is also a lot younger.

I like Panarin a lot but if someone said pick between the two, I am taking Tkachuk almost every time especially at a lower salary. Whether that would be the right decision or not, we will never know.

If we find a right wing (could be on the roster already) that can consistently put the puck in the net, we are going to be a very strong team. If we find two of them- we can challenge for the Cup IMO

We talked about this on the last blog and so would I but that is not a knock on Bread since they are both top 10 players. Salary is the bigger difference since bread's age is deceiving. He has very little hockey millage as hardly gets hit and started late.

his article is really no different than anyone of us writing something

there's no insight into it, he's just somebody looking at the cap issues and writing his opinion about how they'll ultimately tackle those issues

something we all do basically every day around here

I’m all for bringing in a right wing who can put the puck in the net on a somewhat consistent basis. I’m certainly not sold on a Kravstov, I need to see something, and I don’t feel Kakko will measure up.

I agree, I also think we are forgetting how amazingly dynamic Panarin can be at times. I have cautious optimism about him cracking 100 points next season.
